PRODUCTION INFO

The Artistic Team has created a musical revue entitled "Show Off!" which will be a salute to (and satire of) Reality Shows.  Six "crews" of different styles will be competing for the title of "Show Off" and the best part is the audience will vote to determine who stays and who goes!  There will be many large production numbers, along with many opportunities for solos.  We will also need a team of three judges, hosts of the show and more!  As always, you don't need to audition to be in the show...just register and we'll take care of the rest!!  Lots of singing, dancing and competing to see who will be named "Show Off" and each show will be different from the last.

There are many more details, including rehearsals, performances and more which can be found on this site!  Please feel free to notify all of your friends and family.  If there are any questions, please feel free to contact us via email at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. PAPA Touring Company 2012
Friday, 07 January 2011 00:00
The Palikū Academy of Performing Arts has set its sights on taking an East Coast Tour to New York and Florida in the summer of 2012.  The group will have performance opportunities in both cities at city landmarks and venues which will ultimately lead up to a memorable performance and parade in Disney World!  Attending Broadway musicals, workshops, backstage tours, shopping and visiting other theme parks are also on the agenda.

PAPA has been very fortunate to have such a talented group of performers, dedicated team of parent volunteers and overall a family that is supportive, caring and loving toward one another over the years.  The opportunity to travel with an assemblage like this is truly once-in-a-lifetime.

We will be holding auditions to fill the cast.  The application and audition process will be more rigorous than usual due to the time, effort and exposure the group will have to endure.  Trainings, meetings, rehearsals, promotional performances, etiquette classes and more await the cast.

We are also seeking parents to assist with chaperoning responsibilities.  Each family is expected to be active participants in committees and fundraisers.

We understand that there will be significant financial obligations, scheduling commitments and dedication to this endeavor, so please review the following requirements.  If your family is willing and able to make this commitment, interested performers and their parents/guardians must attend our informational meeting on Sunday, January 16 at 4pm at the Kapunahala Elementary School Library.  We will discuss the tentative itinerary, answer any questions, and will distribute the necessary forms.

Each applicant must perform a short dance audition to be learned at one of the Audition Preparation Sessions.  There will be a section in the dance where the applicant will be allowed to “free style” to show other abilities not displayed in the audition dance.

Acting Requirement

During the audition, the applicant will be given a selection to read.  This is considered a “cold reading” where the applicants’ interpretation of character and expression will be adjudicated.

Audition Preparation Sessions

We will hold three (3) separate Audition Preparation Sessions in order for the applicants to learn the song and dance for the audition.  Applicants must schedule and attend one of these sessions.  Sessions will be held on Wednesday, January 19 from 6 – 8:30pm and Saturday, January 22 from 10 – 12:30 and 2 – 4:30pm.  Please plan on being there for the duration of one of the sessions.

Call Backs

Callbacks are scheduled for Sunday, January 30.  The applicant will be notified before they leave their audition if a callback is necessary.  We will schedule a time that works for the applicant then.

*Note:  We are seeking up to 20 young ladies and up to 20 young men to be a part of the cast entering grade 8 and up (at the time of the tour).  We may also consider younger cast members for age-specific roles.  These students should be entering grades 5 – 7 at the time of the tour.  PAPA Alumni will be considered if they fulfill the above requirements.

Rehearsals will also include vocal and dance training and also etiquette classes and lessons on our destinations and sites.  Students will be given a trip binder which will contain pertinent information for rehearsals, expectations and itinerary for the trip which they are required to bring to rehearsals.
